One of the UK’s most recognisable and uncompromising comedy stars has undoubtedly ‘cracked America’ – now here’s a rare opportunity to catch Gina Yashere on home turf.

Currently residing in LA, her bombastic delivery, infectious personality and cheeky observations have turned this British comedian into one of America's hottest comics.

GLEE CLUB NOTTINGHAM LAUNCH SEASON - ANDY PARSONS, RICH HALL, KEVIN BRIDGES, TOMMY TIERNAN + MORE.
This September The Glee Club Nottingham will open its doors for the very first time with a season of excellent live entertainment, including some stunning live comedy.

Following an extensive refurbishment of the striking British Waterways Building in Castle Wharf, The Glee Club will comprise a ground floor Cafe Glee and two purpose-built auditoriums, specially and lovingly crafted to create the best possible atmosphere for hosting live comedy and music.

Every Friday and Saturday (plus the last Thursday of every month) we’ll be presenting ‘The Best In Live Stand-up Comedy’ – a simple but effective format featuring a show compere (your comedy guide for the night) who will introduce three top comics determined to rip the lid off the room.

As well as Andy Parsons, star of Mock The Week, our opening weekend will feature stand-up of the highest order from Jarred Christmas, Mike Wilmot, Gina Yashere and Andrew Maxwell.

Here at The Glee we place the emphasis on the quality of the live show with theatre-style seating and excellent customer service. You can expect a fully stocked bar, sumptuous club menu and great after-show weekend cheesy discos.

Not to be outdone, we’ll also work ourselves into the ground to bring you the best touring comics around.

In September alone we look forward to welcoming Perrier Award Winner Rich Hall (15 Sept), TV star and writer Shappi Khorsandi (16 Sept), fast-rising 'young comedy prodigy' Kevin Bridges (23 Sept) and one of the most in-demand young comics on the circuit, Jon Richardson (30 Sept).

You can also book now to see comedy giant in the making and star of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow Alun Cochrane (10 Oct), one of the masters of live comedy Jimeoin (4 Nov) and multi-award winning Irish comedy superstar Tommy Tiernan (25 Nov) - with more to follow.

The Glee Club Birmingham opened in 1994 as the first professional comedy club outside London and The Glee have subsequently opened in Cardiff (2001), Oxford (April 2010) and now Nottingham (September 2010).

The Glee Club Nottingham will open it's doors in September 2010 following an extensive refurbishment of the handsome, redbrick Waterways Building on Canal Street. Following substantial investment we will create two purpose built auditoria both capable of presenting live comedy and live music plus a ground floor cafe bar. The Glee Club Nottingham will launch with a season of excellent live entertainment including some truly brilliant live comedy.

Launch shows already on sale include live comedy from Perrier Award Winner Rich Hall and one of the fastest rising stars of comedy Kevin Bridges. Glee Club Nottingham will be open every Friday and Saturday night for The Best In Live Stand-up Comedy plus comedy tour shows and live music across other nights of the week.

AN AUTUMN SEASON PACKED WITH COMEDY TOUR SHOWS

We have comedy coming out of our ears here at the Glee so we thought we’d give you a brief run-down of what to look forward to over the coming months.

Our autumn programme of comedy tour shows in Birmingham, Cardiff, Nottingham & Oxford weighs heavy with the best in British & International stand-up.

You can book now to see previous winners of the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award such as Tommy Tiernan, Rich Hall and Brendon Burns, plus 2008 Best Newcomer Sarah Millican and triple nominee Russell Kane.

Away from helping provide two of the best TV sitcoms of our time, Isy Suttie (Dobby in Peep Show) and Greg Davies (Mr Gilbert in The Inbetweeners) are well-established comics in their own right. Greg brings us his first solo tour while Isy is sharing the bill with everyone’s favourite sandwich-rapper Dan Antopolski.

Elsewhere expect innovative solo stand-up of the highest order from Micky Flanagan, Alun Cochrane, Al Pitcher and Rob Deering.

GLEE BIRMINGHAM POCKETS CHORTLE AWARD FOR BEST VENUE FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
DUST OFF THE MANTLEPIECE - THIS ONE'S STAYING RIGHT HERE

On Monday night the great and good of UK comedy (and Tommy Walsh from Ground Force) sank fizz and dished out the annual Chortle awards, hosted by Mark Watson.

We're like a dog with multiple apendages after Glee Club Birmingham saw off some fine competition to retain its crown of Best Venue (Midlands & East). Bath Komedia pipped us to the post to take the Wales & West regional award so we congratulate them but we're already hunched over our war desk plotting our 2010 strategy...which will mainly consist of 12 months of mighty fine live comedy.

The list of this year's Chortle Award winning comics reads like a potted history of the Glee with many still to play us this year. Congratulations to Best Newcomer Joe Lycett - who'll be doing an openspot in Birmingham on Fri 07 May, Sarah Millican picked up Best Headliner - Sarah brings her tour show to both Birmingham and Cardiff later in the year and Kevin Bridges, a man surely destined for huge things, walked off with the Best Breakthrough Act - you can catch Kevin at Glee Birmingham and Cardiff this side of summer - be warned he's selling fast.

Previous Glee acts Michael McIntyre, Tim Minchin, Tom Wrigglesworth, and Rhod Gilbert also had their good work recognised with Michael scooping a double haul of TV & Radio Award plus the Best Tour award.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW FOOD PRE-ORDERING, MY BOOKINGS & MY PERFORMERS GIZMOS

We've been grafting over the past months to bring you 3 brand new developments that make our online booking service even better. Taking in comments from you these new functions are there to make your life easier and put a little polish on our already hugely popular online booking system.

FOOD PRE-ORDERING
We're rolling this brand new service out to more and more shows across our venues. Pre-order all of your food from our club menu when you make your online booking - whether you're in a couple or a big group, from nibbles to gourmet burgers. Or if you can't choose from all of the great food options at the time of booking you can always log back into your booking using the MY BOOKINGS tab any time (before 5pm the day before the show) and add your food choices. We've made the food pre-ordering system as simple to use as possible to help cut out the hassle. Look out for special offer menus. You can get an idea of the food we serve with our sample menus here Bham SAMPLE Food Menu or Cardiff SAMPLE menu.

Food preordering is available for our comedy shows in Birmingham & Cardiff and will be available in Nottingham shortly. Food orders for Glee Club Oxford should be made on the night.

MY PERFORMERS
Now this is a must for comedy lovers! It's free and quick to use - log into the MY PERFORMERS area of the site with your email address and password and select your favourite performers by name. Just put a tick in the box next to the names of the acts you love to watch and get free email alerts every time they go into a live show at The Glee. And if the line-up changes because your favourite act has been offered the chance to appear on the TV or break America we'll also send you another e-alert and should you choose to you'll be able to move your booking to a new date with the MY BOOKINGS service.

We'll keep updating the list to include favourites we think will return plus new names we have high hopes for - both comedy and music.

MY BOOKINGS
Nothing short of revolutionary this! Some venues will give you a small percentage resale if you cant make a gig but we want to show you more respect than that.

If you get let down by a babysitter or some people from your party suddenly succumb to a tropical disease fear not - all is not lost. As long as you take action before 5pm the day before the show you can log into the MY BOOKINGS section of the site and transfer part or all of your party to another date, depending on whether you've pre-ordered food or not.

There are a few simple rules to what you can and can't do but we think we're ahead of the game here in helping our customers get more from us, especially when this is combined with our MY PERFORMERS gadget. The MY BOOKINGS service is currently only available for comedy show bookings - music shows will follow.
