MITCH BENN

We are sorry but Mitch is not due to perform for a while.

Picture a man on a mission. A man trying to find his perfect match of a pet. A man desperately seeking a polar bear. That's Mitch Benn
Edinburgh born Mitch ("I'm half Scots, half Scouse, which mean I'm very tight with money, but I don't have any") has been slowly climbing up through the comedy world - quality material delivered from the heart ("Viagra will one day buy out Micro$oft"), coupled with some excellent guitar playing means he's not going to stop.
The songs. Mitch is a gifted songwriter, and rather than aim to be a songwriter for 'popular' music (where he'd be bloody excellent at it), he's harnessed this power to excellent comedic effect. Example. Having spent the time and effort to come up to the Edinburgh Festival, he dived straight into the Blind Poet for a drink. Where The Stevie Agnew Band was playing. "Mitch!" "Stevie!" Cue the bar listening to a four-piece Stevie Agnew Band, and Mitch's version of "Why Do Fools Fall In Love..." the appropriately skewered view of life entitled "Why Do Women Need More Shoes."
(And the male of the species doesn't escape. Verse two goes "Why Do Men Fart in Bed!")
There's no drop in quality when the singing stops and the talking starts. While never entering truly dangerous ground (Sex, Morbidity, and Relationships feature heavily), the cynically sharp wit rips into the professional beggar ("Do they mean professional as 'just very good at it?' 'Change any spare, mister?' Doh!), the Titanic, and what would happen if people began to sound like their cars.
An excellent performer, all round good bloke, and an ex Chambers Street bod (that's Mitch outside Chambers Street's Cellar bar in the picture!) to boot (he met Clara, his 'other half,' there); who's not averse to experimentation - witness the years that Kendall Mitch Cake (Mitch Benn and Ian Kendall’s award winning double act). There's a CD kicking about - the way he handed them out means unsigned copies are probably rarer than the signed copies. He plays the London Comedy Circuit, so catch him if you're down there at any point, otherwise look out for him around the country if he tours. Or ask Channel 4 nicely to give him another slot on "Gas."
And according to Clara, he's not a Crap Shag - he'll still sing it though!
He sings very funny songs, interspersed with comic monologues. As well as his songs and stories being extremely amusing, he also has an incredible vocal range, which all adds to the fun. He's on the Now Show quite regularly these days (Fridays at 6.30 and Saturdays at 12.30 on BBC Radio 4, 92-95 FM and 198 Long Wave)..
In 1995 Mitch was voted comedian of the Year at the Glastonbury Festival, and in 1998 won comedian of the Year at the Leicester Comedy Festival.
Mitch regularly appears at the Comedy Store in London and other top clubs and was recently on Channel 4's GAS comedy programme. His act is big, his talent is big, his personality is big - it all adds up to a gigantic hit!
