“A real talent” - The Guardian

"Hilarious" - BBC

"Impressive talent" - The Observer

The hotly-tipped Jimmy McGhie saw his star rise particularly quickly when after only 10 gigs he reached the final of the prestigious So You Think You're Funny Final at the Edinburgh Festival. He has also reached the semi finals of the BBC New Talent competition and the final of the Amused Moose Star Search 2005.

Jimmy studied Drama at Kent University and his meteoric rise in the world of stand up appears set to be matched by his progress in the world of acting, with exciting TV roles in the pipeline.

His split-bill shows with Stuart Goldsmith and Damion Larkin at the Edinburgh Festival in 2007 and 2008 respectively, received rave reviews.

“Charming, bright-eyed and relaxed, he melds rhythm and timing with a polished and honest delivery. A pleasure to watch” - Fest Magazine

“Jimmy McGhie stole the show…Excellent comic timing and a generally charming manner ensured this show is not to be missed" - Three Weeks

“When well brought up, sensitive McGhie’s girlfriend is pinched by a predatory Aussie diving instructor, he confesses he’d rather stay indoors doing a sudoku” - The List

"Jimmy McGhie walks on stage and instantly you see what a real comedian looks like. Charming, bright-eyed and relaxed, his set is sweet relief. He melds rhythm and timing with a polished and honest delivery. His material is well-tailored. He's a pleasure to watch" - FEST 2008.
