KEVIN McCARTHY - THE MAN WITH THE BEARD
- The Man -
Kevin was born in Dartford, Kent at the age of 32. He progressed to the dizzy heights of a truck driver. More by accident than luck, he entered the showbusiness world via an 'open mic' spot at one of London's less salubrious comedy venues, 'The Tunnel Club'. Far from scaring him away he found a craving for the spotlights.
- The Beard -
A magnificent ginger and grey example, once used as a nesting site for the lesser spotted greeb. It has, however come a long way since it's early days as a waxed moustache. The Beard has appeared with Kevin in all his major roles but is now in dispute over its billing. Alphabetically it belives it should be 'The Beard With The Man'.
- The Act -
Jokes, skits, the most ridiculous impressions in history, the odd poem, some prayers, and anything else that springs to mind, in a style described by many as unique and many others as undescribable. Bob Monkhouse said simply, "This man makes me laugh".
- THE WINNER -
Kevin (and the aforementioned beard) appeared on 'Bob Monkhouse's Opportunity Knocks' winning thorugh to the final and attaining the highest ever vote for a comedian. this stupendous acheivement has lead to further appearences on a variety of tv programmes and radio shows. Although somewhat uncharacteristically also led to Kevin nailing the world record for not smiling, acheived for charity in 1999! |
