Seamus Fogarty

Irish alt folk and electronica alchemist Seamus Fogarty returns with his second album ‘The Curious Hand’. It is his first album for Domino (home of Animal Collective, Villagers, Julia Holter, The Magnetic Fields, Bonnie ‘Price’ Billy) and follows his acclaimed debut full length ‘God Damn You Mountain’ (Fence/Lost Map… home of King Creosote, The Pictish Trail, James Yorkston).
‘The Curious Hand’ was produced by Fogarty and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Wild Beasts), who also plays on the album. The album also features the multi-instrumentalist Emma Smith (Hot Chip, Jon Hopkins), who plays a plethora of instruments across the album’s 11 tracks.
‘The Curious Hand’ showcases Seamus’ natural inclination to take his songs and “screw them up,” by applying synthesiser drones and circuit burps, found sounds and spoken word audio samples that give all of his records such wonderful atmosphere, as if they’re haunted by rogue half-tuned signals from another world.

Startlingly good… a record that nestles beautifully at the point where the digital and analogue worlds collide

The Skinny

The ghostly emotional wallop of the tunes will take your breath away

The Irish Times

Dreamy mesmerising folk music

The List

Stunning, mercurial album. Held together by Fogarty’s lovely unadorned voice, it constantly unwinds and uncoils, taking us on magical journeys through fable and modern life and back again, often in the same song

The Guardian

Deep listening psychedelic folk, a peaty brew.
