Mark Nelson

Since winning the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006, barely a year after his first-ever open-spot, Mark Nelson has firmly established himself on the comedy circuit.

A powerhouse mix of dark humour, cutting observations and superb one-liners have seen him quickly rise to the ranks of being a much sought-after comic and writer.

His effortlessly likeable manner on stage belies some of the stronger content and Nelson often has audiences laughing at things they know they really shouldn’t be laughing at.

He is certainly not for the easily offended, yet the material is intelligent, well conceived and beautifully crafted, all supported by a very confident delivery. He also has the innate skill and intellect to be able to adapt his material to suit a corporate audience and this side of his career is rapidly developing.

A lifelong fan of comedy, Nelson is now gigging throughout the country and has performed sold out solo shows at 3 consecutive Glasgow International Comedy Festivals as well as seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has also supported Mark Steel, Andrew Maxwell and Jim Jeffries on tour and continues to build a sold reputation for being a powerful, surefire performer.

In August 2010 he makes his Edinburgh Fringe solo debut at the Underbelly venue with Mark Nelson - Offending the Senses.

Nelson is a pure and unadulterated standup of the highest order. As he understatedly says: "With my show, there’s no message, no theme, no overarching narrative, it’s just a collection of jokes."
