Better know as one half of shabby musical duo Mat & Faron – described by Shaun Ryder as “mental as anything and funny as f**k” – Reed was born and bred in Sunderland and started out as a comic in 2001.

Alongside Faron Smith he was a BBC Comedy Award semi-finalist and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year finalist in 2004.

As a solo act he made the final of the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award in 2002.

“Mathew Reed has oodles of cheekily salacious Mackem charm”
